2006 Mazda Miata at Pacific RacewaysMatt will be at Pacific Raceways Wednesday, October 15th for an afternoon shakedown session in the 2006 Mazda Miata. Since it's last outing the car has received a whole host of modifications aimed at improving safety and effectiveness as a training tool on the track.
Last years Wilwood big brake kit is now complimented by Fox Racing coilovers and an upgraded front sway bar. The interior got a track-focused makeover with Sparco Evo competition seats, Schroth Racing harnesses, and a smaller diameter steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara. The brilliant white roll bar from Blackbird Fabwerks adds safety and chassis rigidity. Finally, the Miata gets a modest power and personality bump with a Racing Beat exhaust, AEM air intake, and a mild performance tune. Last but not least, the car has been equipped with a Garmin Catalyst to maximize training potential.
This week's session at Pacific Raceways is all about relearning the dynamics of the taughter, track-focused Miata, dialing in suspension settings, and getting familiar with the Catalyst. Outright pace is a non-goal for the day but fastest lap will be posted to the results page along with a debrief.
